Nyandarua District is an administrative district in the Central Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Ol Kalou. Formerly the capital was Nyahururu, but it is now part of the Laikipia District. Nyandarua District has population of 479,902 and an area of 3,304 km² [1]. The district is located on the northwestern part of the Central Province, west of the Aberdare Range.
The district was split into two in 2007: Nyandarua North District and Nyandarua South District. The information on this page refers to prior 2007.
Nyandarua county council headquarters are located in Nyahururu town, although Nyahururu is neither part of Nyandarua district or Nyandarua County council.
